Slipp's Amazing 70 Saves Not Enough As Jacks Lose In OT

Connor Slipp stopped an amazing 70 shots on Thursday in a 3-2 Overtime loss in Minot.

Connor Slipp did everything he could do.  A goaltender stopping 40 shots in a game would consider that a pretty good night.  Slipp was called upon to stop 70 as the Minot State Beavers relentlessly attacked the DCB Lumberjacks in ACHA hockey action last night. The Beavers scored 4:08 into overtime on a wrap-around by Eric Bollefer to give the Beavers the 3-2 win.

Despite being outshot 73-27 the Jacks could have, and perhaps should have, come away with the victory.  With the Jacks up 2-1 on goals by Kolby Chen and Dryden Bound late in the third period, the Beavers scored a controversial tieing goal. With Sipp covering the puck and several players tangled up in front of him the Beavers jabbed away at the puck.  Despite the puck being covered for what seemed like enough time for a whistle, the referees allowed Minot to jab away at the puck which eventually found the stick of Bollefer.  The referees huddled after the goal and despite the complaints of the Jacks bench the goal would stand.

The Jacks came into the game ranked 10th in the ACHA West while the Beavers were 11th.

The Jacks will host Colorado State University Saturday January 26 at 7:30pm, followed by a Sunday 1:00pm matinee.
