The DCB Lumberjacks hockey team will host Providence University today (Monday January 7th) at Noon at the Lumberdome.
The Jacks dropped an overtime 4-3 game Sunday night to the same Providence team.
The Jacks got on the board first with a Kyle Peters goal only to have the Argos tie it shortly after on a goal by Leo Felt.
Just before the end of the first period Josh Lanson put the Argos up 2-1.
Just 15 seconds into the second period the Argos made it a two goal lead with Felt's second of the game. The period lacked some intensity, something not unexpected for the first game after the break.
That all changed in the third as the Jacks mounted solid pressure on the Argos giant goaltender 6'5" Jacob Fry. The Jacks scored an early goal and then tied it with just 33 seconds left in the game on a goal by Cody Shackel, sending the game to overtime.
The Jacks would come up empty as Jeron Hirschfeld would score with just over a minute left in overtime.
The Jacks are 7-7 while the Argos moved to 5-4-1.
