The Jacks (7-5)  hockey team defeated Utah State University 8-3 on Sunday to complete a 3-1 weekend at the Beehive Showcase Tournament in Utah.

The Jacks scored early and often in the chippy contest against Utah State, who earlier in the day announced they would be moving up to Division I next season.

Wade Thompson got the Jacks on the board in the first followed by goals by Daniel Nomerstad and Blake Carpenter

Colin Van Kommer opened the fourth just 1:15 in with a beautiful snap-shot under the cross bar to put the Jacks up 4-0.  Utah State answered with their first goal to give the home team some life. Just over a minute later the Jacks scored again as Logan Robinson found the net.  Utah completed the second period scoring on a goal with just under five minutes left in the period.

Donny Gaudreault, on a nice feed by Peyton Triechel, put the Jacks up 6-2 just 2:36 into the period.  Just over a minute later Nomerstad scored his second of the game taking a 2 on 1 backhand pass from Kolby Chen and putting it past the goaltender.  The game would get a little chippy, as games like this can be, after the 7th DCB goal.  The Aggies would take four consecutive penalties, two of them unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, making it all but impossible to mount a comeback.  Kyle Peters would score the final DCB goal.  Peters picked up a high clearing pass from Wade Thompson and used Dryden Bound as a decoy as he went in 2 on 1 and ripped a shot low blocker side for the games final marker.

Jay Pringle stopped 33 of 35 shots for the win.  Wade Thompson and Daniel Nomerstad led DCB with 3 points each.

The Jacks will enjoy some time off and prepare for their next opponent, Williston State College.  The Jacks will complete a home and home against their in-state rival, hosting the Tetons Wednesday December 5th at 7:30pm at the Lumberdome and travelling to Williston Friday December 7th for a 7:00pm rematch.

DCB sits at 7-5 while Williston is at 4-9-3.
